Advancing the science of human security

Cognitive security is the protection of human perception, sense-making, and decision-making from manipulation, distortion, and engineered confusion.

For Cognitive Security Canada, this means studying how information environments, technology, social pressure, and institutional systems shape what people notice, believe, decide, and act on.

Research

Our interdisciplinary research spans psychology, computer science, and social science. We examine vulnerabilities in cognitive processes and decision environments, and develop public-interest approaches that strengthen resilience, decision-making, and systems integrity in Canadian information ecosystems.
